Indian weddings are a grand celebration that vary across regions, cultures and ethnicities. Regardless, they have a few things in common – a festive spirit, elaborate rituals, and in most cases, extensive decorations, lots of music and dance as well as colourful clothes!

This journey will provide insights into the cultures, customs and rituals of India along with the chance to attend a “Big Fat Indian Wedding”. Join us as we witness a couple embark on their journey together in this most celebrated of Indian occasions. Be part of the wedding ceremonies and interact with the families as they come together to prepare for this auspicious day. Dress up in ethnic attire, enjoy the best of Indian cuisine, and experience all the rituals and fanfare of an Indian wedding.

Weddings in India are a grand affair with about 10 million weddings celebrated in the country, every year! Typical Hindu families spend significant effort and financial resources to prepare and celebrate weddings. Several days of festivities and traditional functions culminate on the final day with the wedding ceremony, which usually consists of these three rituals – Kanyadaan, Panigrahana, and Saptapadi. These respectively mean, giving the daughter away; holding hands to signify the sacred union; and the seven steps representing the seven vows the couple makes to each other.

Going to a wedding is a unique and beautiful way to immerse yourself in the Indian culture and way of life. It is a life-changing event that will promote you from being just another tourist to becoming a local for a day.

Note: The date of journey may vary depending on the wedding date
